FMCG Business Development Officer — Ekiti State (Field / Team Builder)

We are looking for a hands-on FMCG Business Development Officer. The role is field-facing and commercial: you will grow distribution and sales from the factory’s catchment area, build and lead a local sales team, and drive activation across retail, wholesale and institutional channels.
Key Responsibilities
• Own territory growth: develop and execute the route-to-market plan for Ekiti State and surrounding towns.
• Build, recruit and manage a high-performing field sales & merchandising team (reps, merchandisers, account officers).
• Establish and manage trade relationships with distributors, wholesalers, supermarkets, independent retailers and institutional buyers.
• Execute trade marketing and in-store activation: plan promotions, sampling, displays and POS installations.
• Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and payment plans with channel partners; ensure timely collections.
• Monitor and report on competitor activity, market trends and product performance; propose product/pack/price adjustments.
• Ensure excellent on-shelf execution: display compliance, stock availability and merchandising standards.
• Work closely with Supply/Factory to forecast demand, manage order fulfilment and minimize stock-outs.
• Prepare weekly/monthly sales reports, route plans and market intelligence for senior management.
• Maintain strict adherence to company policies on credit, promotions and trade terms.
• Travel frequently across the state and neighboring markets; represent the brand at trade fairs and local events.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Agriculture, or related discipline.
• 3–6 years’ FMCG field sales / business development experience (preferably with disruptive brands or startups).
• Proven track record of building and managing field sales teams and distributors.
• Strong understanding of trade channels (MT, GT, wholesalers, institutions) and in- store execution.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Hands-on, target-driven, practical approach; comfortable in high-mobility/field conditions.
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with sales force automation / CRM is an advantage.
• Driver’s license and ability to travel frequently; willing to be based near Ekiti factory.
• High level of integrity and commercial acumen.
